Dunno if you have read the Song of Ice and Fire series but HBO just completed shooting a pilot for a possible series based upon it. There is some fantastic talent involved in this project including Sean Bean as Ned Stark and Peter Dinklage as Tyrion. Not to mention top notch FX and post production. The FX guy did the John Adams series, he did amazing stuff with CGI background in that series. HBO has put a lot of money into this pilot, they'd be insane to not pick this up for at least 2 seasons. This could be to fantasy episodic TV as LoTR was to fantasy films.

Potentially the full series of books could easily accommodate 7-8 seasons in a series and in a lot of ways, think Lost in a fantasy setting with far more compelling characters.

I am so psyched! Just hope by 1/11 when the series would likely launch, that HBO has embraced IP content delivery. I haven't had cable for 2 years and don't want it, I get all my video just fine over the net, thank you very much :) But I would pay a sub fee to HBO for IP on demand to this series :)

If you haven't read the series yet, I highly recommend it. GRRM may be be slow writing his books but his plots and characters are so compelling.....
