Canada has been taking some very public beatings at the hands of the media as well as prominent scientists and diplomats who want Canada expelled from various international organizations for not living up to its commitments and there is no question we're at fault. 

Canada no longer holds the image of a large open and free country with clean air and a sense of being a part of the global community.  Now Canada is increasingly seen as a petro state that has altered its economic trajectory to focus almost exclusively on natural resources and their  exploitation and those who say so wouldn't be far off the mark.
