It's no secret that the Fed is not the most trusted institution in the United States seeing as it has it operates on its own without any significant oversight from the government.  Several members of Congress, including the some of the most critical of the Fed like Rep. Ron Paul (R-NV) and Bernie Sanders (I-VT), have made real progress in fashioning legislation to audit the Federal Reserve.
