Financial Reform Bill Passes Senate
The final vote on the financial reform bill happened a lot faster than I previously expected, but it happened today around 8 PM Eastern.
The bill passed by almost the same margin as the cloture motion 59 - 39, which means the process to amend the House and Senate bills can begin. Several Senators will be trying to add language from amendments which were not allowed to be voted on because of secret holds from Republicans and a tight timetable laid out by the Senate majority leader Harry Reid.
One thing is for certain. This process has moved along much quicker and in a smoother fashion than the health-reform bill.
