Mathews Destroys Brown

I always get a thrill when someone challenges a bullshitter, and through the use of a simple form of questioning, or dialectic, systematically destroys their entire argument.

I had written previously that it was only a matter of time before the oil spill, caused after an explosion and subsequent collapse of the Deepwater Horizon oil rig off the coast of Louisiana, was used as a political weapon, whether true or not.  The first shots were fired by the right when former White House Press Secretary Dana Perino appeared on Fox and Friends claiming that the explosion was ordered by President Obama and when former FEMA director Michael Brown appeared on Fox News' Neil Cavuto show echoing similar absurdities.

I'm sure some crazy people will no doubt perpetuate rumours begun on Fox News, which I must say is part of a disturbing trend of demonizing the President, but for those who are interested in a bit more in depth analysis of these outlandish thoughts you will be happy to know that such notions have been thoroughly stomped.  In this case it was Chris Mathews taking on Michael Brown, who was widely panned as incompetent at his position during the Katrina disaster, who had no choice but to abandon his position in an incredibly embarrassing way.  I think the best line of the whole interview came from Brown himself when he said, "When you put it like that it does sound crazy."
