Employment Grew By 93,000 In June
Job numbers for June have been released by Stats Canada and it appears to be surprisingly good news.
Employment grew by 93,000 in June, lowering the unemployment rate to 7.9%. However, the majority of jobs were gained in Ontario (60,000) and Quebec (30,000) and they were evenly split between full and part time jobs.
The largest increases came in the service industry with retail and wholesale trade, business, building and other support services, health-care and social assistance, and automotive repair and personal care services. The age and gender brackets leading the way are men between the ages of 25-54, followed by those aged 55 and over, and bringing up the rear are youth jobs between the ages of 15-24.
