Kagan Heads For Full Senate Vote

The Senate Judiciary Committee held their vote on whether or not Elena Kagan would move on for a full Senate vote to be the next Supreme Court Justice.

In a bi-partisan vote, the 19 member panel voted 13 to 6 to approve of the nomination of Solicitor General Elena Kagan.  In what would otherwise have been a vote split along party lines, Republican South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham decided to vote for President Obama's nominee even after being threatened with an electoral challenge by conservative groups.

The event itself was a long drawn out affair filled with speeches from each Senator that I'm sure will be used for any number of web ads or fund raising events.  Red meat for their voting bases.  In any event, the next big question is how many votes Elena Kagan will get from the entire Senate in this highly polarized election season.  However, it's not really that important to anyone other political wonks and legacy cooks because the reality is that Kagan will be confirmed.
