A new study by a Canadian researcher that shows a substantial drop in HIV transmission has triggered a dramatic shift in UNAIDS treatment strategy.

A British Columbia study has found a 52 per cent reduction in the number of HIV cases in that province from 1996 to 2009, according to a report published in Lancet.
